ABOUT THE ROLE Are you an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in embedded systems and a passion for building high-performing teams? We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead both hardware and software engineering teams at EMAC, now part of FRAMOS. In this role, you will be accountable for ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and effectively, taking full ownership of outcomes while cultivating a collaborative, hands-on, and high-performing engineering environment. The role can be based in Carbondale, IL or St. Louis, MO in a hybrid work mode (up to 50% remote). Following the acquisition by FRAMOS, this position plays a key role in combining EMAC’s deep legacy in custom embedded system design and integration with FRAMOS’ global expertise in embedded vision technologies. You will help scale engineering excellence while maintaining the agility and customer focus EMAC is known for. You will report directly to the President of EMAC while working in close alignment with FRAMOS executive leadership, ensuring strong connection between local execution and global strategy. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and manage a cross-functional engineering team of 8 (hardware & software) with full accountability for delivery, quality, and team performance Allocate team resources effectively across projects based on skills, priorities, and timelines Ensure high-quality technical execution, including reviews, verification, and adherence to engineering standards Maintain a hands-on engineering contribution, including supporting design problem-solving, engineering circuit design, debugging, and providing technical guidance on complex challenges Take ownership of project delivery outcomes, ensuring milestones are met on time and with minimal rework Coach and develop team members, including performance management, hiring, onboarding, and continuous upskilling Drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement in processes, tools, and ways of working Establish strong documentation practices and promote effective knowledge sharing within and across teams Support customer interactions and actively participate in customer-facing activities, including customer calls, acting as the escalation point for technical topics within your domain while supporting the preparation of solution recommendations and quotations Contribute to aligning EMAC engineering practices with FRAMOS, while preserving flexibility and responsiveness to customer needs YOUR PROFILE Proven experience leading engineering teams in embedded systems, electronics, or related environments Strong technical background in hardware/software integration and system-level development Experience managing end-to-end delivery of customer-driven engineering projects Ability to combine hands-on technical understanding with leadership and strategic thinking Strong competence in resource planning, prioritization, and driving execution toward clear goals Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, with a focus on building engaged and high-performing teams Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities Adaptable and comfortable navigating changing priorities, technologies, and organizational environments ABOUT EMAC & FRAMOS EMAC has been building custom embedded systems since 1985, with a strong reputation for practical, reliable solutions.
