QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates would be expected to have a Master’s Degree with qualification preferably in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with job experience in offshore projects with exposure to load out and load in operations.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technical knowledge in engineering
  • Exposure / involvement ( direct or indirect ) in Project Management
  • Good communication skills
  • Solid decision making skills
  • Ability to delegate and capability to manage a limited number of resources (3 or 4 team members)
Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring that key projects and engineering duties are fulfilled by planning, managing, and monitoring all relevant engineering activities. They can expect to work on many projects at the same time, build and manage diverse teams of subordinates from different disciplines, formulate and execute strategies, and coordinate with other managers and departments. They will also have to prepare reports on the progress of any project. The Engineering Manager needs leadership skills and the ability to effectively delegate work. Another skill is problem solving as the Engineering Manager will need to be able to address any issues that come up with exceptional foresight, great communication skills and an aptitude for managing risk due to the complex nature of the industry.

JOB DUTIES / MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serving as the engineering leader and technical expert
  • Providing clear and concise instructions to subordinates
  • Assigning tasks to subordinates making sure deadlines are met
  • Supervising the work of multiple teams of subordinates
  • Confirming the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by subordinates
  • Answering questions and resolve issues brought forth by subordinates and engineering team members
  • Creating detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for subordinates to use and abide by
  • Reviewing and writing performance evaluation reports about subordinates
  • Monitoring and determining various staffing and training needs
  • Developing office staff position descriptions and making hiring and termination decisions
  • Training new employees
  • Analysing market demand and available resources
  • Preparing and delivering various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally
  • Spearheading various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes
  • Attending trade shows and conferences if required by Management
  • Conferring with higher levels of Management
  • Performing engineering structural calculations for plans and drawings, determining technical specifications and scheduling engineering efforts associated with the project in terms of cost, time, internal and external resources, safety and quality requirements
  • Preparing operational procedures, specifications and related data tables
  • Establishing and maintaining a usable and well-communicated technical schedule for all phases of the project, monitoring the timeline, scope, budget and strategy expectations
  • Ensuring full compliance with all laws and regulations, standards and codes of practice related to engineering concepts, designs and methods (Project Safety Plans, Risk Assessment, Project Quality Control)
  • Preparing project status reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information; while maintaining proper files regarding the ongoing progress of the project
  • Communicating with Clients and Subcontractors to discuss technical issues, explain procedures and requirements, convey project costs and timing and any resolve concerns
  • Providing technical assistance to Sales, Project Management and field personnel and assist with budget estimates and forecasts
  • In case of engagement as Site Engineer, assist in preparing and managing site activities, organising facilities, ordering materials and supervising contracted staff when requested by the Site Manager
