Description

As Engineering Manager, you will lead the Engineering Team, consisting of 12 engineers and a QA Lead, divided over 3 Product Squads. You will focus on team development, career growth, and enabling the successful delivery of our Product Roadmap. This role combines people leadership with strategic execution to drive both team success and business outcomes.

YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

The role needs someone confident and resilient who balances empathy with directness, able to build strong relationships while delivering clear, actionable feedback. You should have a passion for technical excellence with a drive to deliver impactful solutions on time, and be skilled in guiding long-tenured engineers through change with respect and tact..
Scale-ups provide phenomenal learning and development opportunities but sometimes it feels like you’re “building the plane while flying the plane”. You must derive energy from such a climate and don’t mind redesigning for continuous growth, feeling comfortable with some uncertainty and inevitable changes.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in leading and scaling engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and frontend JavaScript frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills. Ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team while managing performance and professional development.
  • Passion for education and understanding of the EdTech landscape.
Responsibilities

Our backend runs on Ruby on Rails and our frontend on Ember.js. To succeed in this role, you need a strong affinity with these technologies to understand engineering challenges and offer deep technical mentorship. Experience with at least one is essential; the ability to quickly learn and adapt is equally valued. You’ll collaborate closely with Product and Design to deliver features that create real impact in education and align with our mission.
