Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

At Lab Digital, we aim to create high-quality digital products that matter. From global e-commerce platforms to content-heavy websites, our work is built on cloud-native architecture, with modern headless SaaS integrations at its core.
As an Engineering Manager, you lead delivery across one or more teams or projects. You guide and inspire engineers, help shape technical strategy, and ensure our teams build scalable, reliable solutions. While you don’t actively program day-to-day, you know how and when to get hands-on when needed, whether that’s reviewing architectural designs, supporting technical decision-making, or mentoring others through complex problems.
You work closely with Operations Managers, Project Managers, and the Technical Director, forming a strong partnership that enables great delivery. You also play a key role in proposals and client pitches, using your technical expertise to help win and shape future projects. Engineering Managers at Lab Digital are also client-facing, often stepping into roles such as tech lead, architect, or project consultant.

WHAT YOU DO

As an Engineering Manager at Lab Digital, you are responsible for ensuring technical success and team alignment across projects. Your role includes:

  • Designing and guiding robust technical architectures aligned with our vision, that anticipate future needs and optimizes total cost of ownership.
  • Supporting teams in making technical decisions, promoting best practices, and ensuring quality across the board.
  • Playing an active role during sales and delivery handovers, helping define a solid technical approach for new projects.
  • Keeping track of and addressing technical debt and security in coordination with PMs and Operations.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, helping define technical roadmaps and translating their goals into scalable solutions.

On the leadership side, you:

  • Act as a mentor and coach to engineers across different teams, helping them grow in their roles and build confidence in their work.
  • Collaborate closely with management peers to align planning, execution, and team wellbeing.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and clients, ensuring open communication and long-term success.
  • Provide clarity and structure within your teams, coordinating efforts and ensuring smooth collaboration.
