In our Basic Isocyanates BIL plant in Leverkusen, you can expect a position where you can fully utilize your expertise, contribute strategically, and act as a central point of contact for teams, projects, and site development. At Covestro, one of the world's leading manufacturers of polymer materials, you will actively shape the technical reliability of complex chemical plants – with the support of an international network and genuine creative freedom.

In addition to our diverse benefits, a full-time position offers an attractive starting salary between €89,400 and €108,500 per year , plus a variable component. The starting salary depends on your qualifications and professional experience.

This is what you can do in this role :

  • Responsibility for all mechanical maintenance activities – from planning and implementing shutdowns to ensuring the long-term availability of the equipment.
  • Taking on central and cross-site special tasks of higher complexity as well as providing technical leadership to the teams involved in maintenance processes.
  • Independent planning and execution of projects of medium complexity (concept to implementation) as well as coordination of internal aspects in externally managed projects.
  • Participation in the defect elimination process: from vulnerability analysis and root cause analysis to the sustainable derivation and implementation of measures, involving internal and external specialist interfaces.
  • Identification of optimization potential and independent further development of maintenance and inspection plans, material strategies, FMEA and complete asset documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance and plant safety: Preparation of safety assessments, independent concept development for legal and internal requirements, and support during audits (environment, incident, certification)
  • Up-to-date and complete maintenance of technical documentation and master data in SAP and in the Asset Performance Management (APM) system

This profile will impress :

  • Completed studies (Bachelor's or Master's) in chemical engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering or a comparable engineering degree – alternatively, completed technical training with further qualification as a state-certified technician and many years of relevant professional experience.
  • Solid, long-standing professional experience in engineering, maintenance and/or production in the chemical or comparable industry, ideally with proven experience in managing projects or turnarounds.
  • In-depth knowledge of technical best practices, maintenance standards and methods, as well as confident handling of SAP PM and asset management systems (e.g. APM/Meridium)
  • Excellent communication skills, experience in professional leadership, and a solid understanding of project management and cost control – you recognize connections, prioritize effectively, and maintain an overview even with parallel action streams.
  • Analytical, strategic and conceptual thinking skills combined with strong assertiveness and a hands-on mentality
  • Excellent German skills and good English skills, both written and spoken, are required, as you will be working closely with international interfaces and global specialist teams.
