Simplicity Air Ltd has an immediate opening for an Engineering Manager. We are seeking an experienced individual who is looking for a challenging and rewarding role in an extremely fast-paced environment where they can learn something new every day. The Engineering Manager will work directly with the President of the company and oversee teams and projects for both mechanical and electrical systems, requiring a blend of strong technical knowledge, leadership, and project management skills. Key responsibilities include planning and directing engineering work, ensuring design quality and compliance, managing project budgets and timelines, and fostering collaboration within diverse teams to meet business and client objectives.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Minimum of 10 years of direct work experience in an Engineering Management role.
  • 10 years of experience with sheet metal fabrication.
  • Proficiency in detailed drawings, using SolidWorks
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage engineering teams effectively.
  • A strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering principles, design, and development.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in planning, scheduling, and executing projects to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify, analyze, and resolve technical and project-related issues.
  • Excellent ability to think strategically and contribute to the long-term vision for product development and innovation.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in complex situations.
  • Must be self-motivated, disciplined and have top-notch organizational skills.
  • Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, post and sales management.
  • Familiarity with project management software, preferably Zo-Ho.
  • Intuitive grasp of organizational structure to manage cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary resource allocation.
  • Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Superb creation and facilitation of meetings, feedback sessions, and briefings.
  • Able to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, and staff, including non-technical, technical, and upper management.
  • Strong understanding of financial risk and its associated relevance to engineering time.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Exceptional computer skills and experience using Solid Works, Excel, Word, Visio and Teams.
  • Extreme flexibility is required to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines frequently.
    Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with a half-hour unpaid lunch.
    Wage: $110,000.00-$120,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Project & Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and guide the engineering team, defining project goals, managing the project lifecycles, including planning, design, development, and execution, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery of solutions.
  • Accountable to ensure that deliverables have all the detailed information for customers, suppliers and internal staff, such as but not limited to CAD models, CAD drawings, production work instructions, and checklists.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies for technical projects, ensuring they align with company objectives and customer needs.
  • Resource Management: Create detailed resource plans, manage project budgets, and allocate staff, training, and equipment to ensure project success. Maintain all project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and micro-deliverables using the appropriate software and tools.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide technical leadership and guidance to ensure the technical accuracy of designs and the soundness of methods used by the team.
  • Ensure that the Bills of Materials (BOM) are accurate in our ERP system so products can be assembled properly and with the correct materials.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other departments and management to ensure technical coherence and communicate progress and needs.
  • Produce regular reports (status, escalations, etc.) on the progress of projects; deliver these reports during regular leadership meetings. Conduct meetings and forums to solicit feedback, input, and expectations; incorporate these into project plans to report to senior executives.
  • Development: Develop and mentor a team of mechanical and electrical technicians, creating a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Quality & Efficiency: Implement technical standards, ensure processes meet quality and safety compliance, and strive to improve efficiency and reduce waste in designs and processes. Evaluate daily time logs to ensure all engineering time is accounted for in ZoHo project’s timesheet for project costing and SRED capture. Conduct project post-mortems to identify areas for improvement; make recommendations based on findings.
