The Opportunity: We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Engineering Manager to the Data Infrastructure team in the Visa Open Banking (VOB) organisation The Work itself: Lead and grow a high-performing team of data infrastructure engineers delivering secure, reliable platforms on AWS and GCP. Act as the technical owner/ATC for the services the team owns: define SLIs/SLOs, manage on-call/incident response, serve as the escalation point, and drive post‑incident reviews and corrective actions. Own ways of working (WoW): run effective team ceremonies (standups, planning, demos, retros), maintain a healthy backlog. Drive technical direction: facilitate and contribute to design decisions and RFCs, ensure pragmatic trade‑offs on reliability, cost, and time‑to‑value, and uphold security-by-design and compliance standards. Partner with product, data, security, and platform stakeholders to shape roadmaps, set clear priorities, and deliver against commitments. Recruit, onboard, and retain talent: set goals, coach for performance and career growth, and build an inclusive, feedback‑rich culture. Ensure operational excellence: capacity planning, cost management/FinOps, observability, runbooks, and automation to reduce toil and improve MTTR. This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. Qualifications Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications - 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience. - Experience managing data infrastructure on AWS and GCP including storage, compute, networking, IAM, and monitoring - Experience with workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow including DAG design, scheduling, monitoring, and SLAs - Strong data engineering practices for building and operating platforms including CI and CD, infrastructure as code with Terraform or CloudFormation, containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes, observability, and cost optimization - Proven ability to navigate enterprise cybersecurity and compliance requirements, ideally within Visa environments, including control frameworks, risk assessments, evidence collection for audits, change management, and remediation in partnership with security teams - Experienced Agile facilitator who leads team ceremonies such as standups, planning, reviews and demos, and retrospectives, drives backlog health, and aligns cross functional stakeholders - Working knowledge of the VOB data platform including core architecture, key datasets and pipelines, SLAs, and incident and operations processes Additional Information Visa is an EEO Employer.
