FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

Wellyx is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager with hands-on experience to lead a mature Scrum team. This role demands strong technical mentorship, strategic project execution, and effective cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will drive engineering excellence, team development, and process optimization to deliver scalable and high-quality solutions that align with our business objectives.
This role will predominatly be work from home with occasional attendance to our London office. The role will involve working with our teams based in Asia, so must be able to do early starts (7am).
This opportunity is ideal for a candidate that is looking to grow into a CTO role in the future.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

· 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 3 years in a technical leadership role, demonstrating significant expertise in .NET, Angular, Kotlin, Swift and C#.
· Proven experience leading multiple squads and mentoring Squad Leads to build high-performing teams, with a comprehensive understanding of web and mobile development (Android & iOS).
· Strong knowledge of scalable architecture, clean code practices, and the implementation of CI/CD pipelines.
· Proficient in agile methodologies and product-led development environments.
· Excellent communication skills with a capacity for team development and aligning technical execution with business objectives.
· Familiarity with DevOps practices or cloud platforms, particularly Azure.
· Hands-on experience in mySQL, Mongo, MS SQL, Server database administration.
· Sound experience in database problem determination and solving.
· Good understanding of Data Modelling and Data Warehouse techniques.
· Hands-on experience with Git repositories, including pushing code and managing pull requests (PRs).

Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year

Engineering Culture: Cultivate a strong engineering culture that champions ownership, psychological safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all squads.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Drive cooperation with Product, QA, DevOps, Data, and Design teams to ensure seamless execution and maximum impact.
Process Evolution: Adapt engineering processes (Agile/Scrum/Kanban), lead retrospectives, and innovate improvements to enhance team efficiency and inclusivity.
