What is the Job? As an Engineering Manager, you will lead all engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, ensuring that buildings, equipment, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and guest comfort. You will manage preventive maintenance programs, energy conservation initiatives, capital projects, and compliance requirements in line with IHG Hotels & Resorts standards and Holiday Inn Express brand expectations. Your Day-to-Day Engineering Operations & Maintenance Ensure effective operation and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, fire safety, and water systems. Implement and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for hotel assets. Conduct regular inspections of the property to maintain safety, functionality, and brand standards. Maintain an organized, secure, and well-stocked maintenance workshop and inventory. Oversee external contractors and service providers to ensure quality, safety, and cost efficiency. Financial & Asset Management Prepare and manage the engineering department budget and control maintenance costs. Support capital expenditure planning, renovations, and engineering projects in coordination with management. Monitor energy consumption and implement energy conservation and sustainability initiatives. Ensure optimal utilization and protection of hotel assets. People Management Plan daily work schedules and ensure appropriate staffing levels within the engineering team. Recruit, train, coach, and develop a technically competent and motivated maintenance team. Conduct performance reviews and recommend HR actions where required. Promote a culture of safety, compliance, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Guest Experience & Safety Ensure prompt and courteous response to guest maintenance requests. Maintain a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for guests and colleagues. Support high guest satisfaction scores through proactive engineering support. Act as Manager on Duty when required. Responsible Business & Compliance Ensure full compliance with local, state, and national statutory regulations, including fire, safety, health, and environmental laws. Maintain accurate records of inspections, certifications, tests, and statutory approvals. Support IHG’s commitment to sustainability and “green hotel” operations. Maintain effective working relationships with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders. What We Need From You Advanced vocational training or technical qualification in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Maintenance. Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in hotel engineering or building maintenance (hotel experience preferred). Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance systems, safety standards, and statutory compliance. Experience managing maintenance teams and external contractors. Ability to communicate effectively in English and local language(s). Required certifications or licenses as mandated by local regulations. How Do You Deliver This?
