  • Understanding of the Before You Dig Australia process and Ausgrid’s Network Standard 156.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans / drawings and knowledge of property legislation & regulation.
  • Knowledge of typical construction practices and the risks associated with operation of typical underground plant (jack hammers, excavators, boring machines etc.)
  • Demonstrated understanding of or experience in a relevant trade and / or engineering related activities within the electricity distribution or relevant industry.
  • Demonstrated awareness of relevant statutes, regulations, and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.

Responsibilities:

As part of the Transmission Mains and Services Business unit, you will be joining the Asset Protection Team. Our core function is to protect Ausgrid’s Underground Transmission Assets when a third-party external to Ausgrid, is required to perform excavation works near Ausgrid’s Underground Transmission assets.
Our team is comprised of field- based Shift Asset Protection Officers and office-based Asset Protection Engineering Officers who all report to a Portfolio Manager.
Join us as the Asset Protection Engineering Officer on a permanent full-time basis working on a 9-day fortnight work schedule.
Reporting to the Portfolio Manager Asset Protection, the Asset Protection Engineering Officer will have an essential role in the provision of standby “spotter” services related to Ausgrid’s Underground Transmission assets and underground feeder route patrol.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Scheduling of Ausgrid field staff to provide standby services for external customer excavations.
  • Administration of standby services for third parties working in the vicinity of the organisation’s network assets – including handling of enquiries and billing.
  • Regular contact with external customers undertaking excavation works in the vicinity of Ausgrid underground transmission cables.
  • Liaison with office-based staff and administration.
  • Delivery of outstanding customer service in the provision of services to third parties, while protecting the integrity of Ausgrid’s network assets.
  • Administration of the organisation’s easement encroachment management process.
  • Investigation and resolution of encroachments with input of technical, property and legal sections.
  • Handle easement related enquiries, development applications and liaison with councils and consent authorities.
  • Perform provision of Transmission Cable standby service, route patrols and other site visits to customer sites as required.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be directed by your Manager, in line with the Work Level Standards for this role.
