PRINCIPLES ACCOUNTABILITIES:

As Planning Engineer at Crewe Bakery for The Compleat Food Group, you will ensure that a high priority is given to Health and Safety within all designated tasks and work environments.
Food Safety, Quality, and Integrity: You will put Food Safety, Quality, and Integrity at the forefront of what we do, ensuring we deliver “Food to Feel Good.”
Health and Safety: You will champion SHE compliance withing the engineering function delivery, having a vital role in supporting site safety related activities and challenging all unsafe practice.
Financial Performance Management: You will monitor, analyse, and report on asset engineering spend relative to maintenance activities.
Asset Care: You will be a key stakeholder in the implementation of the asset care strategy at Crewe Bakery, working with representatives from other sites within the group to share experiences and findings.
Resource Management: You will foster a positive work environment, encouraging ambition within the engineering function. Identifying and promoting talent within our team. Helping equip the team with the requires tools and knowledge to provide the desired level of service.
Continuous Improvement and Project Management: You will drive forward continuous improvement within engineering operations, projects, and teams.
Data Capture: You will utilise and develop the information we are able to capture ensuring a measured response where necessary to achieve the business objectives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

You will have an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree (BSc, HND or HNC), or a degree in related Engineering fields. Alternatively, you may have completed an apprenticeship or equivalent qualification with time-served experiences.

Responsibilities

FOOD SAFETY, QUALITY AND INTEGRITY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, technical, and legislative standards within engineering.
  • Identify opportunities for the engineering department to improve product quality.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Champion Health, Safety and Environment across engineering function.
  • Ensure that risk assessments are completed for planned maintenance tasks.

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and report on assets maintenance expenditure, including labour usage and parts.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to understand the true cost of asset downtime.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and prioritise work requests in accordance with site priorities.
  • Identify resources required to safely and effectively complete planned maintenance activities.
  • Identify materials and parts required for planned maintenance activities, liaising with engineering stores to ensure that it is available.
  • Identify opportunities and skill gaps within your own and colleagues’ knowledge and skills and identify training requirements to increase skill sets.
  • Audit and ensure maintenance manuals, communication tools, diagnostic instructions, and special tools are readily available to all engineering team.

DATA CAPTURE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Capture and analysis of asset/line/area downtime at site.
  • Record failure rates, identifying recurring issues.
  • Identify & record maintenance costs.
