SUMMARY

Simplicity Air Ltd has an immediate opening for an Engineering Project Manager. We are looking for an experienced person who wants to find a challenging and rewarding role in an extremely fast-paced environment where they learn something new every day. We develop our products to make a difference in our unique space.  The Engineering Project Manager will work directly with the President of the company to identify the department’s project goals, objectives, and scope to create a project plan that outlines the tasks, timelines, and resources required, along with follow-up on execution.
The Engineering Project Manager is the primary point person responsible for planning, executing, and delivering engineering projects on time, within budget, and meeting the required specifications.
To achieve these important goals, the Engineering Project Manager will define project requirements and scope, assign tasks to team members, and supervise their efforts. They will update the President daily on the project’s progress. Efficient delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, and clear communication of expectations to senior management and team members are critical tasks that must be performed constantly.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct work experience in an Engineering Project Management role or 10 years of engineering background.
  • Must be self-motivated, disciplined and have top-notch organizational skills.
  • Must have a complete understanding of sheet metal fabrication.
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods.
  • Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, inventory control and sales management.
  • Familiarity with project management software, preferably Zo-Ho.
  • Intuitive grasp of organizational structure to manage cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary resource allocation.
  • Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Superb creation and facilitation of meetings, feedback sessions, and briefings.
  • Able to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, and staff, including non-technical, technical, and upper management.
  • Strong understanding of financial risk and its associated relevance to engineering time.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Exceptional computer skills and experience using Solid Works, Excel, Word and Teams.
  • Extreme flexibility is required to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines frequently.
  • Persuasive and motivating, with a strong focus on managing people.
    Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with a half-hour unpaid lunch.

Responsibilities
  • Aid in project planning for each approved project, defining the project’s goals, objectives, risks, assumptions, staffing levels, roles and responsibilities, work breakdown structure, milestones, and deliverables, using appropriate software tools and/or project management methods.
  • Manage engineering activities throughout the lifecycle, including assigning tasks, reviewing deliverables for accuracy and ensuring projects are moving forward efficiently.
  • Ensure that deliverables have all of the detailed information for customers, suppliers and internal staff, such as but not limited to CAD models, CAD drawings, Production Work Instructions, and checklists.
  • Ensure that the Bills of Materials (BOM) are accurate in our ERP system so products can be assembled properly and with the correct materials.
  • Evaluate daily time logs to ensure all engineering time is accounted for in ZoHo projects timesheet for project costing and SRED capture.
  • Maintain all project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and micro-deliverables using the appropriate software and tools.
  • Conduct meetings and forums to solicit feedback, input, and expectations; incorporate these into project plans to report to senior executives.
  • Produce regular reports (status, escalations, etc.) on the progress of projects; deliver these reports during regular leadership meetings.
  • Track all project costs to ensure completion within budget.
  • Conduct project post-mortems to identify areas for improvement; make recommendations based on findings.
  • Aid in conducting cost-benefit analyses, risk analyses, and ROI calculations to determine project feasibility.
