THE OPPORTUNITY:

Exciting Opportunity Alert! Are you a student eager to dive into the world of massive mining trucks and hovels? Our Mine Maintenance, Planning & Reliability team is the place to be!
As a student, you’ll get hands-on experience with heavy equipment, contributing to the design and optimization of maintenance strategies for our mining machines. You’ll be troubleshooting equipment issues, analyzing performance data to predict failures, and helping us implement innovative maintenance solutions. Working alongside experienced engineers and tradespeople, all while making a real impact on the efficiency and sustainability of our mining operations!

  • Job location: Fort McMurray, AB – Horizon or Albian Sands
  • Shift schedule: 8 days on, 6 days off, working 10 hours per shift
  • Term lengths: 8 or 12 months
  • Term start: September 2026

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assist in developing cost-effective maintenance strategies for our fleet of shovels, trucks, and various support equipment
  • Participate in identification of equipment bad actors and work with internal and external stakeholders for resolutions
  • Review maintenance histories, costs and key performance indictors to identity and implement improvement initiatives
  • Prepare and compile maintenance statistics for use to manage costs, equipment availability and to optimize maintenance work
  • Participate in the development and updating of equipment maintenance standard operating procedures
  • Maintain an unwavering commitment to safety for oneself and to support Canadian Natural’s core safety values
Responsibilities
  • Currently enrolled in bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical or Mining engineering is preferred
  • Interest in heavy equipment maintenance and reliability
  • Motivated and positive attitude
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract
  • Required to be physically and mentally fit for work
  • A pre-employment drug screening test must be successfully completed
