Engineering Supervisor – Residence Inn Edinburgh Are you an experienced maintenance professional ready to take the next step into a leadership role? We're looking for a hands-on Engineering Supervisor to lead our engineering team at Residence Inn Edinburgh, ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the entire property. This role suits someone who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to lead, coach, and develop a team, while taking ownership of property-wide maintenance standards and compliance. Hourly Rate: £15.09 | Rotating shifts including days, evenings and nights, with potential on-call responsibility   About the Hotel Residence Inn Edinburgh is an apartment-style hotel in the heart of the city, located in the vibrant Quartermile area, offering a quiet haven for business and leisure travellers alike. You will develop a deep understanding of the property's unique offering and the markets it operates in.   What You'll Do Leadership and Team Management ·        Supervise, coach, and support the engineering and maintenance team, assisting management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, disciplining, and motivating employees ·        Assign and monitor work orders, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard and within agreed timeframes ·        Act as the first point of escalation for maintenance issues, guest repair requests, and technical problems raised by the team ·        Support the development and ongoing training of team members, building technical capability across the department ·        Foster a positive, collaborative working environment and support the team in reaching shared goals ·        Coordinate with contractors and third parties to ensure routine equipment service schedules are met. Review and follow up on job sheets and recommended remedial work   Maintenance and Technical Oversight ·        Oversee maintenance and repair work across the property including basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and general building systems ·        Install, maintain, and recommend replacement of tools, appliances, and equipment; calibrate controls, gauges, and meters ·        Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves, and ensure the team is trained to do the same ·        Complete and oversee preventative maintenance programmes, ensuring high quality and consistency across all work orders ·        Inspect tools, equipment, and machines regularly, and ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of all hand and power tools and equipment ·        Operate equipment and read and interpret technical instructions, schematics, and blueprints ·        Use computer systems to enter and locate work-related information and maintain accurate records   Safety, Compliance, and Life Safety ·        Lead on safety and security policy compliance across the engineering team, ensuring correct PPE use and adherence to lock out tag out procedures ·        Complete the life safety checklist, including fire pump run tests and generator run tests ·        Inspect fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems, ensuring all fire equipment and systems remain in good working order ·        Assist in the development of disaster response protocols and support fire, safety, and evacuation training across departments ·        Ensure prompt reporting and follow up of accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions ·        Ensure all required safety training and certifications are completed and kept current across the team   Inventory and Property Standards ·        Order, mark, and stock parts and supplies as needed, maintaining an accurate inventory and purchase order log ·        Support monthly property inspections, ensuring buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard ·        Help ensure building and equipment licences and certifications remain current ·        Identify, recommend, and implement improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, or cost savings   Guest Experience and Professionalism ·        Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards, anticipating and addressing service needs, including assisting individuals with disabilities ·        Maintain a clean, professional appearance and uphold confidentiality of proprietary information ·        Communicate clearly and professionally with guests, colleagues, and external contractors and vendors ·        Represent the hotel and Marriott brand with professionalism and a customer-first mindset at all times   What We're Looking For ·        At least three to four years of experience in engineering or maintenance, including some experience supervising or leading others ·        Strong technical knowledge across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance ·        A relevant technical qualification or training in a related discipline is advantageous ·        Proven ability to train, motivate, and manage the performance of a team ·        A proactive, safety-first approach with strong working knowledge of relevant safety procedures and PPE requirements ·        Ability to read and follow technical instructions, schematics, and blueprints ·        Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 50 pounds, reach overhead and below the knee, and stand, walk, or move up and down stairs for extended periods ·        A reliable, flexible, and team-first attitude with genuine pride in leading a high-performing team   Why You'll Love Working With Us At Residence Inn Edinburgh our culture is our biggest perk.
