Engineering Team Manager – Homes Digital Lab
Join us in shaping the future of digital customer experiences. As an Engineering Team Manager within the Homes Digital Lab, you’ll lead technical delivery across team, lab, and occasionally platform levels. You’ll act as a co-lead alongside the Product Owner, jointly accountable for end-to-end delivery.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll:
- Own and drive the technical roadmap and application delivery.
- Provide line management and mentorship to engineers.
- Contribute directly to software engineering output.
- Champion engineering excellence and modern development practices.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders across product, design, and business teams—ensuring alignment, transparency, and confidence in the team’s delivery.
Reporting to the Lab Engineering Lead, you’ll play a key role in transforming and maintaining our direct customer journeys to the highest standards. You’ll be supported in your growth as a technical leader, with opportunities to develop both your engineering, people leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of the product roadmap.
- Take hands on ownership for unblocking technical challenges and proving out new patterns and technical solutions ready for full use within the team.
- Act as a player-coach, build others by developing and mentoring engineers on how to achieve the team and personal goals
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and high performance.
- Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary tools and resources to succeed.
AND ANY EXPERIENCE OF THIS WOULD BE REALLY USEFUL:
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Ideally Azure) and source control platforms (such as GHE).
- Familiarity with DevOps tooling, including continuous integration pipelines and containerisation.
