Position Description:
Purpose
The Engineering Technician assists engineers in preparing for testing as well as collection of test data to prepare for the customer.

Essential Functions

  • Performs set-up, testing, fabrication and supporting calculations and may conduct moderate analysis.
  • Compiles and organizes technical data.
  • Testing Operation and maintenance of data acquisition systems; test preparation, setup, tear down, and general support
  • Documentation Collection and organization of test data; maintenance and correction of test procedures
  • Equipment Maintenance Coordination of general schedule; inspection and maintenance of all equipment
  • Plans activities within specific guidelines to meet deadlines.

  • Maintain property equipment in good condition
  • Document, report, and maintain test data and procedures properly
  • Provide mechanical/electrical support in testing vehicles and components
  • Complete customer support in a timely, error-free and competitive manner
  • Assemble or construct simple parts or equipment
  • Operate equipment after training
  • Train others in high-level mechanical or electrical skills
  • Perform non-standardized assignments
  • Assist in the planning of projects
  • Write reports and analyze data
  • Follow safety procedures; wear protective equipment including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes
  • Support TRC Inc.s Quality and EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) efforts

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required
  • Prior laboratory technician experience is a plus
  • 10+ years of related experience; or 8+ years experience with two-year degree
  • Prior automotive technician or electrical experience preferred
  • Valid drivers license
  • Willing to travel for up to two weeks at a time
  • Proficient with computer software associated with customer needs
  • Willing to work overtime on short notice
  • Excellent communication skills including interacting with customers
  • Working conditions
  • May be exposed to temperatures below 0 degrees and above 95 degrees
  • May be exposed to inclement weather
  • Some travel is required
  • Physical requirements
  • Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Capable of positioning ones self into bending, stretching, climbing, or awkward positions
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers
  • Ability to enter work times into a computer
  • Able to speak and hear through a hand-held radio
