Summary: The Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting the development and examination of how different materials and formulations impact processing and properties of monoliths. This position leads tasks supporting projects related to new products, new processes, and new equipment. The Engineering Technician aides Engineers in developing new technologies and gaining a fundamental understanding of new technologies. Essential Duties: Setup new laboratory and pilot scale equipment for new processes and tests. Startup and qualification run of new laboratory and pilot scale equipment for new processes and tests. Write procedures and train Development Technicians on new laboratory and pilot scale equipment for new processes and tests. Perform basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance plan actions for new laboratory and pilot processes / equipment. Conduct lab scale testing and characterization experiments Run first pass samples on new formulations and collect / organize data. Collect, organize and present process / test data associated with samples, laboratory and pilot processes. Identify opportunities for improvement and optimization in new laboratory and pilot processes. Support the transition from the development phase into production for new processes and products. Collaborate with engineers and scientists in project work. Collaborate with other departments to achieve goals. Other tasks as assigned. Requirements Required Skills and Knowledge: Associates degree in Science, Engineering or technical field. Bachelor’s in Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent is preferred. Experience working in an academic or industrial laboratory using analytical instrumentation. Mechanical aptitude. General computer ability. Intermediate MS Excel experience. Ability to work independently or on a team. Ability to teach others effectively.
