Description

GreenXT is seeking former Navy GSEs (Gas Turbine Systems Technician Electrical (rank of E5 or above) with experience in Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers (DDG 51) engineering department or individuals with experience as an electrical technician to serve as a Shipboard and Land Based Engineering Site Engineering Technician.
The candidate will provide lifecycle support of the fielded Engine Controller (EC) to include configuring, monitoring and testing of EC software. They will be expected to troubleshoot control systems with the use of system documentation and electrical schematics.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior Navy service as GSE (Gas Turbine Systems Technician Electrical) with rank of E5 or above is preferred OR 2 or more years of experience as an electrical technician or field technician as it pertains to control systems.
  • Active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain this clearance upon position acceptance) is required for this position.
  • Preferred Naval experience includes experience in operations / maintenance / troubleshooting / testing of shipboard electronics, tracing signals, diagnosing, or isolating cause for electrical failures, and experience with grounded and ungrounded systems as they pertain to Control Systems.
  • Professional experience with electrical schematics, oscilloscope, signal generators and digital multimeters to diagnose or isolate cause for electrical failures.
  • Professional experience with basic electrical principals to include understanding the difference between current, voltage and resistance as well as how to troubleshoot circuits containing them.
  • Advanced computer skills to include the use of HyperTerminal, Putty or an equivalent serial interface.
  • Good oral and written communication skills is required.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
  • 30-50% travel away from permanent location (1-2 weeks at a time).
  • As required, off hour and weekend work will be expected to meet deliverables.
  • Ability to work onboard US Navy Ships (pier side and at sea); which requires proper safety precautions and ability to go up and down shipboard stairways (ladders); work may also require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Witness/support/conduct pre-testing, installation, System Operation Verification Testing (SPVT) and Installation Check-Out (INCO) of DDG Machinery Controls System.
  • Inspect/verify equipment installation, operations, and conduct testing of system upgrades and/or revisions.
  • Accompany engineers or provide support at OEM/Test facilities with testing.
  • Troubleshoot control systems with the use of system documentation and electrical schematics.
  • Provide test support for all variants of fielded systems at both Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) and shipboard.
  • Provide documented status updates on a regular basis.
  • Act as a liaison between shipboard test team and technical leads located at Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia by providing immediate feedback based on shipboard issues and concerns.
  • Maintain personal source of information between jobs, tasking and issue tracking via JIRA.
  • Aid in test procedure edits and implementation.
  • Review and use of Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs), Liaison Action Requests (LARs), Test Procedures, and Plan of Action and Milestones (POAMs). Aid in test procedure edits and implementation as needed.
  • Coordinate and support progress meetings for projects and repairs.
