Description Moody and Associates, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Engineering Technician I to join our dynamic engineering team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their technical skills and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment. The selected candidate will provide support for engineering projects by contributing to detailed design and drafting processes, liaising with clients and review agencies, and facilitating the effective development and implementation of our engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities: Adherence to all company and client mandated safety requirements. Collaborate with project managers and senior engineers to strategically plan, design, and supervise sustainable site development, grading, and construction initiatives. Conduct comprehensive site inspections and surveys to collect data essential for informed project planning and design. Assist in the development of design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for infrastructure improvements. Review subdivision, land development, grading, and zoning plans, including stormwater management and erosion control, to reduce environmental impact. Assist in the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local permit applications (including NPDES and waterway permits) to ensure environmental compliance. Conduct construction monitoring and on-site engineering support to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and quality requirements. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create, modify, and review detailed engineering drawings and plans for various infrastructure projects. Prepare accurate technical reports, maps, and visual documentation to clearly communicate project specifications, design changes, and site conditions. With supervisory assistance, conducts minimal direction of Moody subcontractors and/or other contractors of Moody clients. Prepare notes and sketches of observed field conditions. Use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets or other software for tabulating field and laboratory data. Use and interpret various base maps. Ability to work after hours and weekends at times. Willingness to travel to project sites as required, occasionally work out-of-town, if necessary, in all seasonal weather conditions. Responds to written communications/requests from management in a timely manner. Perform additional duties and responsibilities at times, if necessary, to achieve project and/or company goals. Requirements Skills and Qualifications: 1 - 4 years of demonstrated experience in the field of civil or environmental engineering or similar Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or similar Advanced certifications or licenses (EIT) in relevant fields are preferred Proficiency with AutoCAD is required. Familiarity with HydroCAD, Stormflow, GIS, Civil 3D, or other engineering software is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft 365. Strong technical writing skills. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work extended hours when needed. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Collaborative skills with a strong work ethic. Be dependable (regular attendance required). Must be able to speak & hear detailed information through oral communication. Must be able to see clearly and recognize small details. Must be able to adapt to changing project requirements. Strong commitment to continuing education and professional development in the field. A demonstrated ability to follow safety protocols and contribute to a safe work environment. Scheduling The standard work week is between 40 and 45 hours, unless otherwise approved by your supervisor. Schedules are flexible; however, our core office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Physical presence in the office is required unless otherwise approved by a supervisor. Weekend and evening hours may be required. Non-core hours will be communicated in advance when possible. Physical Demands The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Employees must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally perform physically demanding tasks while working outdoors in adverse environmental conditions, including rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures, and inclement weather. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to sit for long periods of time when performing office-related tasks and/or while driving for business purposes. Field-related tasks may require hiking long distances while carrying equipment and supplies with frequent walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting. Employees must be able to carry out the physical effort necessary to perform job-related tasks.
