POSITION OVERVIEW The Engineering Technician evaluates product and process specs for accuracy and improvements. This position also designs, executes, and assists with trials to determine best practice methods and sustainable solutions, and provides employee training. Primary Responsibilities � Develops, sets up, and conducts tests of wire and/or cable under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control � Recommends revision of methods of operation, alterations in equipment layout or other changes to increase production or improve quality and assists in planning work assignments with worker performance, machine capacity, production schedules and anticipated delays � Observes, assists and trains production employees in equipment operation. Will occasionally operate equipment to produce experimental products or to troubleshoot production problems � Analyzes test results and determines needed modifications or adjustments to equipment or cable to meet specifications Education Requirements � High school diploma or GED equivalent Minimum Experience Required � Experience in manufacturing environment License(s) and/or Certification(s) Required � n/a Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required � Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal � Good analytical skills are necessary to troubleshoot problems and find areas for improvement � Must be well versed in insulating line operation and possess logical stepwise problem-solving techniques Computer Equipment and Software Requirements � Microsoft Office Suite Qualifications Preferences � Associate�s degree or greater from college or technical school in a technical field of study is preferred � 5 years� experience in FEP extrusion and wire drawing is preferred
