ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Works independently and within a team environment to maintain and/or increase service
    level performance within the Capital Projects and Development section of the Public Works
    division.
  2. Reviews development submissions, detailed design drawings and technical reports against
    the requirements outlined in the Town’s Development Process and Design Guidelines and
    General Construction Specifications.
  3. Conducts field inspections for new and existing infrastructure and development; including,
    but not limited to CCC, FAC, tie ins and clean up.
  4. Collects, enters, maintains and audits infrastructure asset data within the context of the
    Town’s Asset Management program.
  5. Researches and evaluates opportunities for funding from various government and non-
    government agencies, providing strategic recommendations for funding possibilities.
  6. Drafts, seeks approval for, submits and tracks grant proposals, budgets and supporting
    documents based on the funding requirements of the organization for specific projects and
    the criteria of specific grants.
  7. Researches alternative techniques, methods, programs and products that may increase
    efficiency, sustainability or economy of functions or projects within the Public Works division.
  8. Ensures customer inquiries, and any other issues, are handled efficiently and professionally.
  9. Contributes to the development of Department bylaws, policies, operating procedures, risk
    management procedures and emergency management procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Completion of a two-year Civil Engineering Technology program

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or Technology or equivalent field is a

significant asset

  • Experience in a construction, consulting or municipal work setting
  • Project Management training an asset
  • A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • First Aid with CPR
  • RCMP Based Criminal Record Check as deemed acceptable by The Town
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect at all times
  • Work independently within tight deadlines and frequent interruptions
  • Thorough understanding of the importance of providing safe, secure and stable

infrastructure to the community

  • Ability to research and become familiar with current Federal, Provincial and Municipal

legislation

  • Project planning experience
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with external groups, including regulators,

contractors, developers, vendors and customers
