Description This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. Under federal regulations, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this clearance. POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD Engineering Technologists and Technicians, Except Drafters, All Other (Engineering Technician V) (Senior). Function: Applies engineering principles to and is responsible for non-routine and complex assignments to include planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project. Duties will include selecting and adapting plans, techniques, designs, or layouts; contacting personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work; and reviewing, analyzing, and integrating the technical work of others. Outline objectives, requirements, and design approaches for projects. This position may train and be assisted by lower-level technicians and performs one or a combination of the following: a. Designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results. b. Develops difficult designs for equipment such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry given general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements), but without critical performance requirements. Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc. May check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design. c. Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance. Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using various types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results; and prepares reports on findings and recommendations. Required experience: Of the minimum 10 years of experience required, at least six years of experience must include the installation of ATC&LS equipment and design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents and drawings. Education: Master’s degree in any technical discipline or bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience in field or associate’s degree plus 6 years of experience.
