Description
SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician IV to provide professional technical support for engineers designing, modifying, repairing Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)/drones, both multirotor and fixed-wing. This position is an ONSITE role in San Diego, CA. JOB DUTIES: Experience designing, modifying, repairing Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)/drones, both multirotor and fixed-wing. Experience with standard hand and shop tools (calipers, drills, cutters, vises, pliers, drill presses, sanders, band saws, etc.). Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) experience using Solidworks, Fusion, Onshape or similar. 3D printing experience (creating production files, operation, maintenance). CNC routing experience (creating production files, fixturing, operation, maintenance). Soldering experience including wire splicing, Plated Through-Hole (PTH), and Surface Mount Device (SMD). Experience making wire harnesses and modifying them in small spaces (ie. Installed in a UAS) is a plus. Electronics knowledge, particularly Direct current (DC) principles. Experience testing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems. Experience using electrical test equipment including multimeters, power supplies, bench DC loads Experience working with vendors, procuring parts, etc. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. Ability to lift 50+ pounds. REQUIREMENTS: Must have a High School Degree. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within 6 months of start. Must have practical knowledge of science and engineering principles. Experience with electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment. Aviation electronics experience or equivalent. Working knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel. Able to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 25%25 of the time depending on needs, and able to be on various ships at sea including naval vessels for 1-10 days at a time. Experienced reading wiring diagrams and assembly of unmanned vehicles. DESIRED SKILLS: Preferred to have a Secret clearance at start but not required. Radio frequency (RF) communication knowledge. Programming skills in C, Arduino, Python or Linux. Strong organizational skills (both digital and physical). Experience with hardware version control. Experience towing large trailers. Experience creating assembly documentation of new hardware devices. Logistics planning experience (ie. Moving equipment internationally for events). Experiencing piloting UAS, both multirotor and fixed-wing.
