We are proud to be partnered with an industry-leading transportation organization on their search for an Engineering Technologist.
This is a 1-YEAR CONTRACT requiring work to be completed 100% on site in downtown Toronto (Bloor & Jarvis).
The successful candidate MUST HAVE knowledge of root cause analysis, reliability analysis, or FMEA/FMECA.
will be instrumental in diagnosing and resolving intricate failures, developing improved work methods, and ensuring all systems meet rigorous operational standards and regulatory requirements. This position involves a blend of hands-on problem-solving, technical documentation, and collaborative project work.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or university degree in Engineering Technology, a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A proven track record of writing clear and concise technical reports, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Strong background and experience working in an engineering-related field.
  • Proficiency with office technology and software applications, including the Adobe suite of products.
  • Knowledge of reliability principles and experience with performance analysis (e.g., failure analysis, KPI reporting).
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strong analytical and research skills to complex problems.
  • Experience auditing systems and processes for compliance and efficiency.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage projects and activities to meet organizational goals.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a collaborative team member.
  • Strong communication skills across various mediums.
  • A solid understanding of how to apply relevant industry laws and regulations.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional certification or registration as an Engineering Technologist (OACETT or equivalent), Professional Engineer, or Engineer-in-Training is considered a strong asset.
  • Certifications in quality assurance (e.g., ASQ) or maintenance management (e.g., PEMAC) would be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve non-routine, complex failures on specialized equipment and systems.
  • Investigate and correct recurring or unusual technical problems, and identify and rectify deficiencies in work methods, job plans, and procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform preventative maintenance checks, ensuring all work adheres to established procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Ensure the full operational readiness of equipment and systems by coordinating and performing functional checks, tests, and inspections.
  • Develop and modify testing protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
  • Lead the stabilization of system failures, determine root causes, and recommend effective solutions or modifications.
  • Prepare a variety of comprehensive written materials, including technical analyses, test reports, modification instructions, and repair procedures.
  • Research, develop, and produce departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and associated training materials.
  • Promote and maintain a respectful and inclusive work environment free from harassment and discrimination, ensuring accessibility for all employees and customers in accordance with applicable human rights and accessibility legislation.
