Summary
Ensign is seeking a skilled Drafter who will contribute to and oversee engineering design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, and manufacturing techniques/processes, while applying their understanding of applicable industry standards and codes.

Position Responsibilities

• Create SolidWorks schematics, 3-D models, drawings, layouts and support documentation
• Complete necessary document control paperwork.
• Ensure all work is being performed and saved in the engineering data management vault (EPDM) as per engineering protocols.
• Assist with training, education, and support of coworkers (drafting, design, problem solving)
• Review drawings/layouts/concepts of other coworkers for quality, accuracy, clarity, potential problems
• Provide guidance and/or supervision to less experienced drafter designers/engineering technologists
• Create bills of materials and oversee creation of drawing to support new designs
• Prepare diagrams, test criteria, and critical assembly instructions
• Analyze design reliability, serviceability, and manufacturability
• Follow all applicable quality system procedures and quality work instructions
• Comply with all Ensign industry, and government mandated practices, protocols, and procedures as applicable
• Ensure that your actions do not create hazards to yourself, other workers, or members of the public
• Refuse to work in unsafe conditions, perform work or operate motorized vehicles or equipment you are not adequately trained for
• Report all near misses, hazards, incidents, accidents, occupational illnesses and injuries immediately to a supervisor or HSE representative through proper procedure
• Attendance and participation in all applicable company safety meetings and training programs is mandatory
• Know the location, type, and method of operation of emergency response equipment

Qualifications

• Technical certification in Engineering Technology or 3 years drafting experience is required
• Strong understanding of industry regulations and standards
• Strong understanding of SolidWorks and AutoCAD software
• Excellent understanding of data management software such as EPDM or Autodesk Vault
• Working knowledge of quality programs (ISO/API)
• Knowledge and familiarity with Drilling Rigs and oil field equipment
• Strong Knowledge with manufacturing processes such as welding & machining
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities with a high degree of accuracy in a fast paced and dynamic environment is critical
• Must be willing to travel and be available on weekends for emergency situations
• Willing to work on rigs and onsite locations
