ABOUT THE JOBJoin our team as an Engineering Technologist with OCWA
We are seeking an experienced individual to perform technical engineering and operational support services for the operation and maintenance of the South Peel Water and Wastewater systems.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold a valid Class ‘G’ drivers license.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Practical knowledge of performing locates/stakeouts and damage prevention, surveying and drafting procedures and construction practices, especially with respect to feedermains, and water, and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of technical report preparation techniques using computer hardware and associated engineering software.
  • Knowledge of computer drafting procedures and ability to interpret technical engineering records such as drawings, manuals, plans, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of operation, design, and construction of water and wastewater systems.
  • Knowledge of technical engineering inspection methods.
  • Knowledge of Agency policies, guidelines and procedures to investigate and deal with concerns or complaints from municipalities or the public.

SKILLS AND ABILITY INCLUDE

  • Analytical and evaluative skills to review, inspect and assess proposed and ongoing engineering services work performed by others.
  • Record keeping and reporting skills.
  • Computer skills to prepare, alter, and maintain accurate and current engineering records, drawings, manuals, specations using appropriate software.
  • Project management skills.
  • Practical knowledge and use of engineering software.
  • Practical knowledge of stakeouts/locates/damage prevention, with certification considered an asset.
  • Written communication skills and abilities to use technical terminology to read plans, records, specifications, drawings, policies and manuals.
  • Oral communication skills to deal with municipal officials and consultant engineers.
  • Interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy to deal with contractors, staff and public, and in dealing with municipal and public authorities regarding new public works affecting OCWA facilities.
