Description
As an Engineering Applications Administrator, you will manage the effective use, administration, integration, and lifecycle of engineering, construction, and field technology systems. You will serve as Engineering’s subject matter expert for these tools—providing advanced support, guiding operational use, and ensuring deployments align with enterprise Information Communication Technology (ICT) and security policies. This role sits within the Engineering department (separate from ICT), which oversees physical infrastructure design and construction. You will serve as Engineering’s primary liaison to Information and Communication Technology (ICT), translating operational and technical requirements into secure, scalable solutions while ensuring alignment with infrastructure, security, endpoint management, and ICT operations teams. You will coordinate with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for configuration, implementation, and lifecycle management of engineering tools in line with ICT standards, including deployments, upgrades, patches, testing, validation, and readiness. You will provide functional administration and support for engineering platforms (e.g., Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM), surveying, mapping, reality capture, construction management, design analysis, and collaboration tools), ensuring effective configuration and use. You will act as the first-line Engineering support contact for advanced troubleshooting of engineering software, peripherals, and high-performance workstations, coordinating escalation with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as needed. You will coordinate with ICT for advanced functional support for engineering software, specialized peripherals, and high-performance workstations by serving as an initial point of contact within Engineering for troubleshooting and user assistance. You will monitor engineering systems, support incident response and on-call recovery, and assist in rapid diagnosis and resolution in collaboration with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) teams. You will Manage engineering hardware standards and workstation specifications, coordinating with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for onboarding, refresh cycles, provisioning, and peripheral requirements. You will develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions using approved platforms to improve reliability, streamline deployments, and reduce downtime, while ensuring compliance with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) standards. You will identify and implement operational improvements, coordinating with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for technical automation needs and ensuring alignment with enterprise guidelines. You will lead Engineering participation in cross-functional initiatives involving applications, infrastructure, and data, representing operational needs and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards. Experienced – You have five (5) years of experience administering and supporting enterprise engineering or technical applications, including software implementation, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, user support, and coordination with information technology operations, infrastructure, and security teams. Desired – We hope you have a bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or business administration. Committed to Equity – You will apply equity and exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices in all aspects of the work. At the Port of Seattle, equity is a daily responsibility and a foundational expectation for all Port employees. Proficient – You have knowledge of enterprise administration for engineering and construction applications across design, field operations, maintenance, and support. You are experienced with CAD/BIM, surveying, mapping, point cloud processing, construction software, and related technology. You also have understanding of enterprise IT practices, application integration, hardware lifecycle management, security compliance, and public sector governance and procurement processes. Communicative Leader – You can clearly communicate technical concepts to engineers, construction staff and non-technical stakeholders. You also possess technical leadership, coordination and relationship-building skills across engineering, construction, IT operations, vendors and service- providers. Adaptable – You possess skills in managing competing priorities in both project-based and operational support environments. Technically Skilled – You are skilled at advanced troubleshooting across applications, operating system, hardware, network, and cloud layers. You possess advanced scripting and automation skills and have an understanding of PowerShell, AutoLISP, Python, or API’s. You also have knowledge of Enterprise software and hardware deployment using tools such as Intune, SCCM, or MDT.
