JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mathematics and English Tutor to join our team, supporting students aged 14–19 in a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in both Mathematics and English that meet the individual learning needs of our pupils, many of whom may have complex learning profiles, including autism, ADHD, and moderate learning disabilities.
The tutor will work closely with teaching staff and support assistants to create a nurturing, structured, and inclusive learning environment. A strong focus will be placed on developing core literacy and numeracy skills, building confidence, and preparing learners for accredited qualifications, functional skills, and transition into adulthood.
This role requires creativity, patience, and adaptability, with a commitment to supporting both academic progress and personal development. The ideal candidate will have experience working with SEND learners and a passion for enabling young people to achieve their full potential.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, particularly with children
  • Strong understanding of special education principles is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to build rapport with students and create an engaging learning environment
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability in teaching approaches
  • Relevant qualifications in education or related fields are preferred
