Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Research & Development

  • Conduct research to support the development of new ESL programs and curricula.
  • Identify, evaluate, and adapt level-appropriate instructional resources and learning materials.
  • Assist in developing course content, lesson plans, learning activities, assessments, and supporting materials.
  • Develop language-learning content appropriate for adult professional learners in an aviation and technical environment.
  • Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to understand operational and technical contexts and incorporate them appropriately into language instruction.
  • Support the establishment of learning objectives, progression standards, and assessment methods for new programs.

ESL Instruction

  • Deliver engaging, learner-centred English-language instruction to adult learners in an in-person classroom environment.
  • Adapt teaching approaches and materials to accommodate learners at varying stages of English-language proficiency.
  • Support the development of speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills relevant to academic, technical, and professional environments.
  • Assess learner progress and provide constructive, individualized feedback.
  • Identify areas where learners may require additional language support and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive adult-learning environment.

Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor learner outcomes and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional approaches and course materials.
  • Review and refine curricula based on learner performance, instructor observations, program outcomes, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Research emerging ESL methodologies, resources, and instructional practices.
  • Recommend improvements to course content, assessments, instructional materials, and program delivery.
  • Maintain appropriate course, learner, and program documentation.

QualificationsThe successful candidate will ideally possess:

  • An advanced TESOL, OCELT, or comparable recognized qualification in teaching English as a second/additional language.
  • Education or demonstrated experience in curriculum design, course development, or instructional design.
  • Several years of experience teaching English to adult learners.
  • Experience assessing and supporting learners across varying levels of English-language proficiency.
  • Strong research skills and demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, and adapt appropriate instructional resources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Confidence working independently while collaborating with instructors, technical subject matter experts, and other professionals.
