JOB DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

St. Lawrence School is located in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and seeks an enthusiastic individual to join our team and help support our language learning department. The ideal candidate should be a passionate educator with strong organizational skills and robust knowledge within their subject area. The candidate will be part of a collaborative teaching team, where strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to effectively communicate with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators. All faculty and staff at St. Lawrence School share an enthusiasm for making a positive and uplifting impact on our young students.
The successful candidate must hold a British Columbian teaching license, hold a valid ELL (IELTS or TEFL) certification and be legally permitted to work in Canada. Fluence in English and Mandarin Chinese are assets, as is 5+ years experience working in an ELL school setting supporting learners. The candidate must be a positive role model and demonstrate high moral standards for students, as fitting for a teacher at an academic-oriented, independent school in British Columbia.
The chosen candidate will be expected to develop and teach ELL curriculum to support the academic success for all learners. They will develop and implement support services, such as tutoring, and volunteer programs aimed at enhancing student learning outcomes.
The position is for single block of teaching during the first school semester which runs from September to the end of January. The chosen candidate’s availably between Monday and Friday requires flexibility to meet the school’s rotating block schedule. The ELL class meets daily for either 55 or 70 minutes.
Vacancy Summary
Location: St. Lawrence School – Vancouver, BC
Position: Part-time (0.125 FTE) – High School (grades 8-12)
Compensation Package: Hourly wage $35-$45
Start Date: Immediately

  • A willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Enjoy leadership in extra-curricular student-based activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and other educational technology.
