Position Title: “English for Employment” ESL Instructor
Terms of Employment: 5 hours/week, on a contractual basis. In-person delivery in Winnipeg (not online)
Contract ends August 31, 2026 (with a potential extension upon funding)

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for an ESL teacher, who will be responsible for planning and delivering “English for Employment” in-person classes to our employment training participants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language or equivalent from a TESL certified institution
  • Experience in delivering ESL to small groups
  • Strong understanding of ESL principles, approaches, and techniques
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to use technology in the classroom, and online
Responsibilities
  • Conduct ESL classes - main focus is communicating skills learned to gain employment and workplace communication, and numeracy
  • Update curriculum according to current desired outcomes, when needed
  • Collaborate with the instructor team to ensure the success of each student
  • Conduct regular assessments and reporting
  • Instill confidence and encourage each student helping them to overcome barriers to employment
  • Assist students with basic digital literacy learning
