Description

As a Teacher of English, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging lessons across the secondary age range, helping students develop their literacy, communication and analytical skills.

The role is 3 days per week and will continue on an ongoing basis, providing consistency for both the successful candidate and the students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons in line with the school's curriculum.
  • Teach and support students across Key Stages 3 and/or 4.
  • Differentiate lessons effectively to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Assess, monitor and provide constructive feedback on student progress.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage students to develop confidence in reading, writing, speaking and critical analysis.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the wider English department.
  • Support students in achieving their academic potential.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessment and student progress.
  • Attend relevant meetings and contribute to the wider life of the school where required.

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching English within a UK secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge across the English curriculum.
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • A commitment to raising attainment and supporting student progress.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A flexible, professional and enthusiastic approach to teaching.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one through Tradewind Education.
