Senior School English Teacher - Years 9-12 Status: 0.8 to Full time Faculty: English / LOTE Faculty Commencement Date: Term 2 2026 Position Location: Burgmann Anglican School, 4 The Valley Avenue, Gungahlin Line Management: This position will be responsible to the Head of Senior School through the English / LOTE Faculty Leader and ultimately to the Principal Burgmann Anglican School is an Early Childhood to Year 12 School with campuses located at Gungahlin and Forde. The school prides itself on its innovative and creative approach to curriculum and education and its strong sense of community and pastoral care of the students and their families and the staff of the school. The school has a strong link with the Gungahlin Anglican Church which shares facilities and resources with the school. Duties Plan and deliver an English curriculum to Senior School students from Years 9-12 allowing for different learning styles and academic needs Prepare course materials Work collaboratively with other members of the Senior School team Participate in curriculum development Participate in professional development activities Liaise with students and parents Participate in the school’s co-curricular program if required Support the Christian ethos of an Anglican School Other duties as required Pastoral Care - Take responsibility for a Pastoral Care class, including: - Developing positive relationships with students - Monitoring uniform, appearance and student behaviour - Teach the Pastoral Care program - Liaise with parents regarding academic and pastoral progress of students - Undertake administrative tasks required Selection Criteria · Relevant teaching qualification and experience teaching English (including Essential English) to Senior School students · A passion for effective teaching and learning · An understanding of positive education theory and practices · The ability to teach Humanities subjects would be an advantage · An interest in working with adolescents · The ability to differentiate the teaching program to address students’ learning styles and varied academic needs; · A willingness to participate in curriculum development and professional development · Expertise or interest in the emotional, social and physical development of adolescents · Experience in the meaningful integration of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) into the curriculum · Experience in teaching students with special learning needs Your Opportunity Awaits If you're ready to make a lasting impact on the lives of young learners and be part of a dynamic educational community, Burgmann Anglican School is the place for you.
