Description Cheshire Academy seeks a full-time English teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background in English, preferably with a master’s degree in English or a similar Humanities discipline. A background in independent/boarding school teaching is also highly preferred. Cheshire Academy is an IB World School, and large majorities of our students take IB English courses toward their graduation requirements and the IB Diploma. Experience with the IB is therefore also a plus. Cheshire Academy is a dynamic work environment and a school that values flexibility, support, and growth for both students and colleagues. An ability to differentiate instruction and work with students of varying learning strengths is key. We focus on students becoming increasingly independent, reflective, and agentic learners. Candidates should value a discussion-based classroom, possess a willingness to try out new and diverse texts, and approach the teaching of writing through individualized feedback over multiple drafts and revisions. Ideal candidates will also embrace an inclusive mindset, demonstrate a commitment to education for global citizenship, and be excited about transforming curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of today’s learners. Other responsibilities include a combination of teaching, advising, and participation in the co-curricular and residential life of the school. All aspects of a teaching faculty role, including courses taught, advising students, and co-curricular contribution, are considered part of the overall faculty workload. Dorm responsibilities are included if school housing is provided. Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a CT “A” endorsement for purposes of transporting students. Applicants must embrace participation in the entire boarding school experience.
