Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards (Many teaching materials are pre-prepared!)
• Teach grammar, literature, writing, and reading comprehension
• Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and projects
• Provide constructive feedback to support student learning and development
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and academic performance
• Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and collaboration
• Lead novel studies, including Shakespearean works
• Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning
• Communicate regularly with the Director regarding student progress and classroom activities
• Assist students with essay writing and editing to strengthen their written communication skills

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (or currently in the 4th year of university) in English, Education, or a related field
• English majors in their 3rd year of university are also eligible to apply
• Strong knowledge of English language arts curriculum and instructional strategies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to engage students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles
• Effective classroom management techniques
• Proficiency in using educational technology for instruction
• Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

• Position Type: Part-time, Casual, On-Call
• Hourly Wage: $21.00 – $26.00
• Schedule: Weekday after-school/evening shifts
• Location: In-person at our Coquitlam, BC academy (Reliable commute or relocation required); Zoom sessions may be arranged in special cases
