The successful candidate will be passionate about English and able to inspire students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, fostering a love of reading, writing and communication while helping students develop the analytical, critical thinking and literacy skills needed to succeed both academically and beyond the classroom.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have a proven track record of delivering strong outcomes in English.
  • Be confident teaching English Language and Literature across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons that inspire students.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Be committed to raising attainment for learners of all abilities.
  • Have experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs.
  • Be passionate about making English accessible, engaging and relevant for all students.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Experience, Training and Qualifications

  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching English within a UK secondary school.
  • Strong subject knowledge across the English curriculum, including English Language and Literature at GCSE and A-Level.
  • A clear understanding of adaptive teaching and inclusive classroom practice.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training (desirable but not essential).
