Teach core literacy skills including reading comprehension, creative and analytical writing, grammar, vocabulary development, speaking, and listening. Introduce students to a diverse range of literary texts , including prose, poetry, drama, and non-fiction, from various cultures and historical periods (including, where appropriate, Arab and Gulf literature in translation). Use a variety of instructional strategies (e.g., discussion, group work, independent study, drama activities, and digital tools) to cater to different learning styles and abilities. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners, including EAL students, students with special educational needs, and high achievers. Foster creativity, self-expression, critical thinking, and a love for reading and writing in all students. Assess, record, and report on student progress regularly using formative assessments (e.g., classwork, homework, participation) and summative assessments (e.g., essays, examinations, projects). Provide constructive, timely, and meaningful feedback to students to support their improvement and build their confidence. Prepare students for internal and external examinations , where applicable, such as IGCSE, A-Level, AP, or IB Diploma. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress. Collaborate with colleagues in the English Department and across the school to plan schemes of work, share best practices, and support cross-curricular initiatives (e.g., History, Drama). Organise and lead extracurricular activities such as Debate Club, Creative Writing Club, School Newspaper, Book Club, or Drama productions. Promote a whole-school culture of literacy , including contributing to school events, assemblies, and reading initiatives. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, upcoming events, and strategies for support. Uphold and actively promote safeguarding, child protection, and behaviour management policies at all times. We welcome applications from passionate, dynamic, and student-centred English teachers who can inspire a love for language and literature and equip students with strong communication and critical thinking skills. The school values English as a core pillar of education and offers a supportive environment for its English Department to thrive.
