JOB VACANCY: ENGLISH TUTOR

Location: Apex Learning Centre, 186 Maple Road, London SE20 8HT
Rate: £20–£25 per hour (depending on experience)
Start Date: 1st September 2025
Contract Type: Contract (Part-Time)
Apex Learning Centre is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Tutor to join our committed team. This role is ideal for a local resident with a passion for education and the ability to inspire learners to achieve their full potential.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum for English (KS1–KS4).
  • Flexibility to work after school hours.
  • Proven experience in teaching or tutoring English Language (advantageous but not essential).
  • Valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one immediately).
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Classroom (or similar platforms).
  • Ability to inspire a love of English in learners of all abilities.
  • Commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Patience and resilience under pressure.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and effective English lessons in line with the national curriculum for KS1–KS4.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver creative lessons that cater to varying learning needs and abilities.
  • Assess, monitor, and provide constructive feedback to support pupil progress.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ensure all safeguarding and welfare protocols are strictly followed.
  • Deliver tutoring to 1-1 in a small group
