BMH Tutors is a well established tutoring company in Birmingham and has been in business for many years. We provide tutoring for 11+ exam preparations, and Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English upto A Levels. We have upgraded our facility for A Levels Business, Geography and Computer Science clients also.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced English Tutor to support students.* The ideal candidate must have strong subject knowledge and a passion for helping students excel academically*. You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons to individual/small groups of students, adapting teaching methods to suit individual learning styles, and ensuring students gain confidence and mastery in their subjects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree in a relevant field (English or a related discipline).
  • Proven experience in teaching/tutoring GCSE and A-Level Science subjects.
  • Strong understanding of exam board specifications and mark schemes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students effectively.
  • Ability to motivate and build confidence in students.
  • Optional A teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS) or tutoring certification is desirable.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver structured and engaging science lessons tailored to GCSE and A-Level curricula.
  • Provide clear explanations of complex concepts, focusing on exam techniques and problem-solving skills.
  • Assess students’ progress through regular testing, feedback, and performance tracking.
  • Adapt lessons to cater to different learning needs, including students aiming for top grades and those needing extra support.
  • Help students develop effective revision strategies and exam techniques to maximize their potential.
  • Stay updated with curriculum changes and exam board requirements (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, etc.).
  • Offer constructive feedback and progress reports to students and, if applicable, their parents/guardians.
