JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Tutor to provide personalised educational support to students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tutoring and teaching, with the ability to engage effectively with children of various ages. This role involves working closely with students to enhance their understanding of subjects, boost their confidence, and cater to individual learning needs, including those requiring special education support.
The Learning Academy Lanark provides English tuition to secondary students and adults preparing for SQA qualifications at all levels of English up to Advanced Higher in line with the Scottish curriculum, in person and/or online, after school hours.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team of passionate teachers.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, preferably with children in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Experience working with children, demonstrating patience, empathy, and adaptability in different situations.
  • Knowledge or experience in special education is highly desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· Teaching small groups of students online and or face to face.
· Supporting students to use our bespoke learning programme.
· Planning individually tailored lessons using our bespoke platform and wide variety of resources.
· Providing feedback to parents after each lesson.

DUTIES

  • Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions tailored to each student’s learning style and academic goals.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum and address specific areas of improvement.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.
  • Utilise various teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning preferences, including those of students with special educational needs.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents, guardians, and educational staff to ensure a collaborative approach to student success.
