Alpha Tutoring Oxfordshire is a trusted, 5⭐ rated tutoring service providing high-quality, personalised support across Abingdon, Wallingford, Didcot, Wantage and the surrounding areas.
We are currently looking for an experienced and dedicated English tutor to join our team and take on in-person, 1:1 students in the South Oxfordshire area.
This is a freelance position that offers flexibility and independence, while being part of a supportive, professional team.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking tutors who are:

  • Experienced in teaching or tutoring English (Secondary and GCSE with A-level experience being a great bonus).
  • Confident in adapting to a variety of learning styles.
  • Ideally experienced in working with students with SEN.
  • Local to South Oxfordshire and available for in-person sessions (no online tutoring).
  • Professional, reliable, and engaging.
  • Hold a DBS certificate (or willing to obtain one quickly).
  • Available to begin as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

As one of our tutors, you will:

  • Deliver 1:1 English tutoring at Secondary and GCSE level.
  • Support students with exam preparation, literacy development, and overall confidence in the subject.
  • Adapt lessons to individual learning needs (SEN experience is highly desirable).
  • Communicate progress clearly with parents and the Alpha team.
  • Work with professionalism, reliability and genuine care for your students’ success.
