POSITION OVERVIEW

The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Coordinator with the planning and implementation of an effective rehabilitation program for the person undergoing ostomy surgery including: consultation, patient care, teaching and discharge planning.
The incumbent is also responsible for assisting with the management of external fistulae requiring a method of drainage collection and the management of pressure sores, arterial and venous stasis ulcers and diabetic ulcers.
The incumbent may be consulted to patients with a variety of complex skin and wound care needs outside of those listed above.

EXPERIENCE

  • Candidates must have three (3) years of full-time employment in a clinically relevant area of Practice.

EDUCATION (DEGREE/DIPLOMA/CERTIFICATE)

  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing, required.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Enterostomal Therapy Program required. Candidates willing to commit to successfully completing this program within two years of hire date into this position will be considered.
  • Commitment to self‑development through nursing continuing education programs and demonstrated potential for teaching and supervision.

  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
