Description

About the opportunity

ValuAssure is seeking a senior Enterprise Architect / ERP Transformation Advisor to support a significant enterprise technology transformation.

This is a strategic advisory role rather than an ERP implementation or configuration position.

The successful candidate will help shape future enterprise architecture, assess ERP platform options, define appropriate application boundaries and provide independent advice across technology, architecture and commercials.

We are particularly interested in candidates with credible experience across both SAP S/4HANA and Oracle Cloud ERP, who can approach platform decisions objectively rather than from a vendor-specific perspective.

You will work closely with senior client stakeholders and experienced transformation advisors to develop an evidence-based technology direction and support key executive decisions.

Key responsibilities

Enterprise and ERP architecture

Lead thinking across:

  • target-state enterprise architecture
  • ERP strategy and application architecture
  • ERP versus best-of-breed boundaries
  • integration architecture
  • systems of record
  • master data ownership
  • architectural principles and guardrails
  • transition architecture and sequencing
  • key architectural decisions

The role requires someone who can look beyond individual products and determine the appropriate role of ERP within a broader enterprise technology landscape.

Platform evaluation

Support objective assessment of enterprise platform options including:

  • SAP S/4HANA
  • Oracle Cloud ERP
  • hybrid and best-of-breed architectures

Develop evaluation criteria across areas such as:

  • business capability fit
  • architectural fit
  • complexity
  • integration
  • scalability
  • implementation risk
  • ecosystem maturity
  • commercial implications
  • total cost of ownership
  • long-term flexibility

You should be capable of articulating both the strengths and limitations of different platform approaches.

Commercial and licensing advisory

Bring sufficient commercial depth to understand how architectural decisions affect technology economics.

Relevant experience may include:

  • SAP and/or Oracle licensing
  • cloud subscription models
  • ERP commercial structures
  • vendor negotiations
  • implementation economics
  • commercial flexibility
  • software consumption models
  • long-term run-cost implications
  • systems integrator commercials

Deep expertise in both SAP and Oracle licensing is not essential, but strong commercial judgement and meaningful exposure to major ERP vendor commercials is expected.

Vendor and solution challenge

Participate in discussions with software vendors, systems integrators and other technology providers.

You will help:

  • challenge proposed architectures
  • assess vendor claims
  • identify unnecessary complexity
  • test commercial assumptions
  • evaluate implementation approaches
  • ensure recommendations remain aligned to client requirements

Executive advisory

Translate complex technology issues into clear executive decisions.

This may include:

  • presenting architectural options
  • articulating trade-offs
  • identifying key risks
  • supporting decision papers
  • developing executive-level recommendations
  • participating in senior stakeholder workshops

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

What we are looking for

You are likely to have held roles such as:

  • Principal Enterprise Architect
  • Chief Architect
  • ERP Transformation Architect
  • Enterprise Applications Director
  • Technology Strategy Director
  • ERP Advisory Director
  • Enterprise Technology Advisor

You will ideally bring:

  • 12+ years of relevant technology experience
  • significant enterprise architecture experience
  • major ERP transformation experience
  • strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA
  • meaningful knowledge of Oracle Cloud ERP
  • experience evaluating ERP platform options
  • experience defining ERP and best-of-breed boundaries
  • strong understanding of integration and data architecture
  • experience with complex enterprise application landscapes
  • understanding of ERP commercials and licensing
  • experience advising senior executives
  • strong knowledge of the Australian enterprise technology market

Experience across more than one major ERP ecosystem will be highly regarded.
