Overview:
BerryDunn is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to join our State Government Practice Group. This role will focus on providing expert guidance and professional consulting services to state government Health and Human Services (HHS) agencies. The Enterprise Architect will help clients define and execute their vision through the development of roadmaps, enterprise architecture frameworks, and technology strategies, as well as provide technical expertise as part of Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) teams.
Travel expectations: Up to 50% travel to client sites nationwide, potential work in the US territories.

You Will:

  • Partner with State HHS clients to assess current enterprise and technical architectures (including legacy and modern systems), identify modernization needs, and design future-state architectures.
  • Lead the development of enterprise architecture artifacts, including:
  • Business, application, data, technology and security architecture diagrams
  • Technical strategy and roadmap documentation
  • System integration strategies and interface specifications
  • Support modernization efforts by developing strategies that address interoperability between legacy platforms
  • Advise on infrastructure and cloud strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals, scalability needs, and compliance requirements.
  • Lead and support IV&V projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align IT solutions with business goals and ensure successful outcomes across projects.
  • Facilitate client workshops, vendor meetings, and project milestone reviews to drive shared understanding and decision-making.
  • Support procurement planning by defining architectural requirements and contributing to RFP/RFI development.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to practice growth through knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

You Have:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT architecture or technical consulting
  • Proven experience leading enterprise architecture planning, developing architecture frameworks, and supporting system modernization initiatives.
  • Proven track record supporting or leading enterprise-level software implementations, preferably from both the consulting/system integrator and solution vendor perspectives
  • Strong knowledge of IV&V services
  • Ability to develop clear, compelling architecture artifacts and present to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and systems engineering principles
  • Strong understanding of both front-end and back-end technologies, system architecture, and integration approaches for large-scale enterprise systems
  • Experience working directly with solution vendors, providing guidance on requirements, integration, testing, and deployment
  • Understanding of APIs, data migration strategies, and interoperability between platforms
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
  • Experience working with or advising State government agencies
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% and work in multiple time zones

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in government IT, specifically HHS
  • Prior consulting experience with a national or regional firm or working with HHS system vendors.
  • Enterprise Architecture certifications such as TOGAF, Open CA, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent
  • Experience as a Solution Architect or Technical Lead
  • Background in cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps practices
    Compensation Details:
    The base salary range targeted for this role is $125,000 - $150,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
