Responsibilities

Melbourne Law School is seeking a distinguished Enterprise Professor or Enterprise Fellow in Taxation Law to lead and shape the teaching and engagement within the Law School’s internationally recognised tax and international tax specialisations in the Melbourne Law Masters (MLM) program. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with leading Australian and international tax experts and contribute to the development of advanced, specialised subjects exploring comparative trends and developments in taxation law and policy.
As a key member of the Melbourne Law Masters leadership team, you will foster and strengthen connections between the Law School, industry, government, and the broader community, ensuring the ongoing success and growth of the tax and international tax programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Lead and manage the MLM tax and international tax specialisations, encompassing more than 20 subjects and over 30 leading tax experts each year.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key domestic stakeholders, including Australian tax practitioners, the Australian Taxation Office, and government bodies, to ensure the continued delivery and growth of the tax and international tax programs.
  • Teaching Innovation: Leverage your expert knowledge and experience to develop and teach innovative, advanced tax subjects that address current challenges in the field, contributing to the Law School’s teaching and engagement goals across our MLM, JD and Breadth teaching programs.
  • Amplify Visibility: Increase the visibility of the Law School’s expertise in taxation law, highlighting the School’s leadership in teaching and research.
  • Strategic Development: Provide strategic advice on potential diversification of revenue streams, including consultancy channels and executive education opportunities.
  • Public Engagement: Participate in public discussions and debates surrounding critical tax issues, further cementing the Law School’s role as a thought leader.
  • Support Leadership: Support and lead the Melbourne Law School Tax Clinic as necessary.
  • Research: Lead, participate in, and support research that contributes to the Law School’s standing as a leader in taxation law, to the extent possible given other key responsibilities already referred to.
