POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Manager of FMS Support Services, the Enterprise Resource Planning Specialist, Support Services is responsible for supporting First Nation communities to enhance their financial and administrative systems. This role involves working closely with the First Nation finance staff to improve their use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. The ERP Specialist will assess current system usage, support system upgrades or changes, deliver training, and provide ongoing mentorship to build capacity and sustainability to the FMS Support Services clients.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assess the current ERP system use (e.g., Adagio, Sage 300, Xyntax, etc.) and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with community staff to streamline processes for finance, payroll, procurement, asset management, and reporting.
  • Troubleshoot ERP issues and provide technical support or coordinate with vendors as needed.
  • Develop and deliver customized ERP training sessions and materials for First Nation finance and administrative staff.
  • Provide one-on-one and group mentorship to improve understanding and independent use of ERP systems.
  • Support knowledge transfer and system documentation to increase capacity for the First Nation finance and administrative staff.
  • Work with communities to plan, test, and implement ERP system upgrades, modules, or migrations.
  • Assist with data migration, system configuration, and post-upgrade support.
  • Coordinate with ERP vendors and IT teams to ensure smooth rollouts.
  • Build strong working relationships with First Nation clients, grounded in respect, cultural understanding, and collaboration.
  • Communicate technical concepts in plain language, adapting to varying levels of digital literacy.
  • Ensure compliance with data security protocols and maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and personal information.
  • Collaborate with internal FMS team members to align ERP support with broader financial service goals.
  • Support long-term planning for ERP needs aligned with community goals and growth
  • Maintain detailed records of work completed, including assessments, plans, and training delivered.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership and contribute to quarterly service reports and KPI tracking.
    The ERP Specialist, Support Services performs other related duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree or certificate in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a finance or advisory role, preferably within an Indigenous or public sector environment.
  • Demonstrated experience training or mentoring others on ERP systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems such as Sage 300, Adagio, and/or Xyntax.
  • Experience assisting with ERP system upgrades, migrations, or integrations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting workflows and financial reporting in Indigenous organizations or public sector settings.
  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Experience working with Federal Government organizations and representatives an asset.
  • Must have experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have an understanding, awareness and appreciation of Indigenous culture and history.
  • Willing to participate in ongoing education and training for the role including Indigenous studies.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of networking & IT infrastructure is an asset.
  • Must be fluent in English (spoken and written). Fluency in French or an Indigenous language is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous Governments, organizations, and communities an asset.
    Equivalent or relevant education and/or experience may be considered.
