You’ll be influencing decisions that shape the way millions of people experience Morrisons. We’re a people-focussed business, and that extends to our tech teams. In this role, we’re looking for someone who has:

• Experience in working on large-scale, distributed architectures.
• Proven track record of taking responsibility for architectural decisions and assurance across complex changes.
• Ideally, experience in enterprise architecture or the ability to operate at this level.
• Strong understanding of architecture frameworks, principles and governance.
• The ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• A forward thinking approach, spotting risks and opportunities early.
• Broad technical experience, which must include some of the following: ERP software, integration technologies, public cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), networks.
• For this position relevant experience within the retail industry is an advantage.

We are recruiting for an experienced Solution Architect with the ability to also operate at Enterprise Architect level. You’ll work closely with our teams across several business domains such as supply chain, wholesale and manufacturing, to design technology solutions that are smart, scalable, and deliver real value to our colleagues and customers. This is your chance to help us connect the dots between great ideas and working systems, making sure our tech works hard behind the scenes so we can keep serving our communities across the UK.
This isn’t just about designing technology, it’s about helping shape the direction of one of the UK’s best supermarkets. You’ll work with senior leaders across the business to define our technology strategy and ensure every solution we deliver is connected, efficient, and future ready. With a broad, strategic view, you’ll help with designing the overall IT landscape and aligning it with our business goals.

What you’ll do:

• Lead the creation and maintenance of our enterprise architecture vision and roadmap.
• Align technology decisions with our business goals and priorities.
• Provide strategic guidance to project teams and wider architecture teams.
• Ensure solutions align with our architecture principles, roadmaps and security standards.
• Lead the solution architecture of complex solutions and provide guidance and support to technical and delivery teams.
• Help determine and challenge the cost implications of different solutions.
• Keep a finger on the pulse of emerging technologies, and know when it’s the right time to adopt and/or adapt.
• Guide and mentor other members of the architecture team.
