Status: Temporary, full-time (Union position)

Hours: 35 Hours/Week
Schedule: Tuesday- Saturday

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Economics, Business Administration, Social Services, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in business coaching, supporting small businesses or entrepreneurs, and assisting clients in starting their own businesses.
  • Recent experience working directly on business matters with customers and stakeholders, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, is included within the required two years of experience.

SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience in setting up businesses in British Columbia, is included within the required two years of experience.
  • Demonstrates experience in community-based non-profit organizations and cross-cultural competency.
  • Builds strong relationships across diverse groups and provides both group presentations and one-on-one coaching.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the needs and challenges faced by new immigrants in Canada, including familiarity with relevant community resources, programs, and services.
  • Experience working in community-based non-profit organizations with strong cross-cultural competency.
  • Knowledge of self-employment regulations and business loan requirements.
  • Recent experience supporting clients facing multiple barriers to self-employment.
  • Proven ability to organize and deliver program workshops, develop schedules, and coordinate guest speakers.
  • Experience facilitating workshops in both in-person and online environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including cold calling and delivering presentations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows environment, and internet applications.
  • Fluency in a second language—Spanish, Punjabi/Hindi, or Arabic preferred.
    A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment.

Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Manager, Employment Programs and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Self-Employment programs, ensuring facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines are followed, and standards and licensing requirements are met.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with clients using a client- centered, outcomes-focused approach.
  • Determines client eligibility based on program requirements and consults with the manager for exceptions or changes.
  • Supports clients in accessing financial and business planning services and reviews business plans for funding readiness.
  • Promotes the Self-Employment program to local community agencies, businesses, and media sources.
  • Provides program information to help participants understand self-employment and available community resources.
  • Facilitates training sessions and workshops at accessible locations throughout the Lower Mainland
