CAD DRAFTER/ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES

No previous experience required. We are willing to train individuals in Solidworks software and other engineering support functions.

  • An ideal team player mindset: people smarts, humility and drive.
  • Entry-level knowledge of drafting functions preferred, but not required.
  • Experience using Solidworks preferred, but not required.
  • Basic understanding of machining, mechanical systems and the manufacturing process preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and other computer programs. Basic mathematic skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Ability to consistently work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills with an ability to be a productive team member
  • Ability to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly

Responsibilities

Your role would be working in our Engineering Department, which is a fast-paced, technical environment. We have a highly effective team that is driven to meet and exceed our customers’ quality standards. We are looking for a positive, “can do” personality to work well within this team, who is highly motivated to seek out answers and continuously learn new things.

  • Uses computer-aided design (CAD) software for 3D modeling and creating various precision manufacturing documents, such as manufacturing sketches, technique sheets and inspection documentation.
  • Models precision components by way of reverse engineering, including the inspection, measurement and documentation of previously manufactured components.
  • Assists in the design and retrofitting of tooling (masking, fixtures, etc.) by following instructions and parameters provided by engineers.
  • Understands and applies configurations management to maintain the consistency and integrity of a product’s physical attributes, specifications, performance and documentation throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Understands and implements customer specifications and requirements.
  • Coordinates and consults with other team members throughout the shop to review manufacturing documents and discuss the need for revisions or additional documentation.
  • Adheres to document control processes in product data management (PDM) system by uploading documentation into the program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
