ENTRY-LEVEL GROUNDS PERSON

Location: Youngsville, NC
Schedule: Full-Time | Year-Round Outdoor Work
Compensation: Hourly, based on experience
Advance Tree & Shrub is looking for a motivated individual to join our growing tree care team as an Entry-Level Grounds Person. This is an entry-level opportunity to build a career in arboriculture, learning directly in the field with support from experienced climbers and crew leaders.
As an Entry-Level Grounds Person, you will be an integral member of our tree care crew with the primary responsibility of tree climbing and assisting Arborist Crew Leaders in performing all tree and shrub care services on residential and commercial properties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors
  • At least one (1) year of tree climbing and aerial lift operation experience in the tree care industry
  • Valid driver’s license (Class B CDL, preferred but not required)
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
  • Ability to follow all safety rules and protocols
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, dragging brush, and working on uneven terrain

Responsibilities
  • Perform essential tree care services including:
  • Tree pruning
  • Rigging and lowering limbs
  • Cabling and bracing
  • Safe removal of hazardous trees
  • Operate, maintain, and clean equipment including: Bucket truck, Hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and aerial lifts, Loaders, and log movers
  • Assist climbers and crew leaders
  • Prepare, clean and maintain job sites
  • Feed brush into wood chippers
  • Use hand lines for lowering limbs and tools
  • Unload, set up, and stow all job site materials and equipment
  • Follow work zone safety procedures and assist with traffic and pedestrian safety
  • Service vehicles and report needed repairs
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and weekly safety meetings
  • Follow and enforce PPE requirements and company safety standards
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
